"My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water." -Jeremiah 2:13
What an invitation and what a painful exposure this verse brings. God forgive us for drinking from man-made, religious containers. Crafted entities meant to hold what used to flow. Old, dead structures that were once dug to try to capture what was alive. Make us bold to abandon what is “cracked and leaking”. Help us to embrace the wild gospel of “spirit & life” opposed to the many other ways people try to control this geyser of rushing poured out grace. I want to continually drink from an internal well of “living water” as Jesus promised.
I was fiddling around with my iPad app called “Paper53” trying to make a small “podcast” symbol for the church website. This verse reminds me of this picture.
